Spring has sprung, and I’ve been spotting more men pulling off the chinos worn with cuffs up, revealing a peek at the ankle. This is a very hip, on trend look that any guy can pull off! Worn right, they say, ‘Cool, Confident, yet Not Trying Too Hard To Please…’! And us chicks respond by rubbernecking and checking your solid game out! Ideally, you’re wearing your pants slim-cut, and always SANS (without) PLEATS, please! I promise you that you will look 5lbs leaner by going pleat-free… everytime I see a guy in a double-pleated chino/khaki, I have to wonder what he’s trying to hide in each pleat - a deck of cards? a small toddler from a village? It’s not a flattering look. So, keep it plain and simple, guys… shades of khaki or grey for the classic look, or dare to be progressive and take on the brighter colors (see Gap’s Union Blue or Roseberry, or JCrew’s Dusty Baltic Stanton Pant). EVERY MAN can take this look on… DO THIS!

I don’t know what it is, but there is something soothing and eye-catching about a man in a blue, long-sleeved button-up… it always catches my eye, and draws me in - I am instantly soothed and comforted by the sky blue hues… The looks range from the traditional oxford blue (a la Brooks Brothers), to a French blue gingham check version (see sleeping man in a Paris garden), and includes the banker’s button-up with a white collar and cuffs (WallStreet I-Bankers!)… We may even give you a pass for wearing an Abercrombie & Fitch logo’d shirt, IF it’s worn as well as the young, scooter-driving Spaniard demonstrates (note his on-trend boat shoes! hello, Sperry Top Sider from the 80’s!)… Ahh, YES, PLEASE… in the line-up of men in long sleeved button-ups, the blue shirt always wins!

Ahhh, a guy in a cozy sweater… we can’t resist… makes us chicks just want to snuggle up and touch… Even better if he’s in a soothing color combo, like this guy we found up in the Santa Barbara wine country rocking his grey and camel hues oh so well! Paired with aviators and a lug soled boot… yum! The uber confident male sporting the grandfather, shawl-collared cardigan out at the clubs was THE catch of the night in the sea of too many guys trying too hard in their long sleeve button up’s circa 2006… Check these guy’s looks out and see… men can do the soft sweater dressing look while oozing sexy all the while… DO THIS, BOYS!

Some advice to the men looking to wow women with their style… dare to wear your suit pants slim-cut and shorter on the hem, the bottoms just above your shoe line. I started seeing this look in Paris last fall and EVERY MAN, was sporting this look! Not just the stylish gays, but even the older guys that you would say fall into ‘dad-category’ (and I’m talking my dad’s age group)! If they can do it, WE CAN DO IT, American men! SPEEDO-Deprived Musings on ‘Breast Men’ - Nikki Beach, Marbella, Spain - July 2011

Where can a girl go to get a good eyeful of men in Speedos if not on the beaches in Spain? Alas, I did see my fair share of boobs - the long, the stretchy, the perky, and the surgically enhanced… I had to ask the Euro men if they were as enamored with seeing boobs as American men were… would a guy be excited to go to the beach with a girl he just met and was interested in, just so that he could get a sneak peek at the goods? Quite frankly, the ‘goods’ seem to be an entirely different game in Europe - I have to guess there are less ‘Boob Men’… can it possibly be that the European men TRULY want to talk to a girl? For the sake of pure conversation? I mean… REALLY?

What can I say? I love potty humor and if I am reliable for nothing else, it will be for consistently cracking up upon hearing someone unexpectedly break wind. Just thinking about the effort it takes to try to squelch the laughter stresses me out… the sweating, quick diverting of eyes away from explosive offender, and then trying my damnedest to not smell it… ahhh, takes me back to 3rd grade home room… good times indeed.
